Miss Laila
Laila has been singing since the age of six and undertaking professional vocal training since she was eight. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Contemporary Music (Performance), with training across a wide range of genres including pop, country, jazz, R&B and rock.
At a university level, Laila coordinates bands, ensembles, rehearsals and showcases, demonstrating strong musical leadership and organisational skills.
Performing began as a way for Laila to overcome shyness and anxiety, and through structured training she developed the tools to build confidence both on and off the stage. She now performs regularly as a professional musician, working as a soloist, in multiple duos, and as a member of a band, while also writing and preparing to release her own original music.
Laila has been involved in musical theatre since the age of eleven, debuting as Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz” and continuing to perform in productions ever since. Her experience includes international performance opportunities in the United States, where she performed as Sebastian in “The Little Mermaid” for JTFWest and participated in workshops alongside Disneyland performers in California.
She has undergone formal acting training and has written, directed, and starred in her own original plays.
Laila achieved a Band 6 in both Drama theory and practical components for her HSC, reflecting her strong academic and creative capabilities.
Beyond the stage, Laila has a passion for art, photography, and animals, sharing her life with a horse, three cats, a dog, two birds, and a fish!
The performing arts have been central to her life for as long as she can remember, and she is deeply committed to sharing her knowledge, passion, and lived experience with her students, with the hope of empowering them in the same way the arts have empowered her.
